Misael G Diaz is an artist, educator and researcher based in the Baja/Alta California border region, whose community-based practice employs photography to address migration, informal economies and the construction of collective identities through popular culture. Diaz is a co-founder and co-director of Cog•nate Collective, whose work has been recently featured in the Getty PST: LA/LA exhibitions “The US/Mexico Border: Place, Imagination, Possibility” and “Talking to Action: Art, Pedagogy, and Activism in the Americas”, as well as in the exhibition “Mapear No Es Habitar” for the 4th Latin American Convening on Art, Work & Economy in Quito, Ecuador.
